Aaron,

I guess the main question is why the distrust? Do you distrust your decision because you have a long history of starting things or saying you will start things only to not finish what it is you had plan on doing?

Do you often find yourself saying you will do this or that, but fail to bring this or that to light?

Is is more of a self-confidence issue? If it is, what events past or present could have started the ball rolling? If is it self-confidence than the only way to gain self-confidence is through pursuing and realizing your personal goals. The magic in completing a task, project or goal gives a boost to ones self confidence -- it proves to yourself that you are capable.

Good decisions are an illusion. You can only make the best decision you can with the information you have available at any given time. So, to be afraid on not making the right decision is silly. You must allow yourself the flexibility to acknowledge that maybe your decision will not be the right decision, but it will give you an opportunity to learn and try again, this time from a different angle or approach.

"My anxiety usually rears it’s head when I feel not in control of a situation, but I have that doubt in myself too."

Me too. Exactly. It takes alot of work to overcome that. Thanks :)

I agree with Leila.

"I think the best thing you can do is to continue writing about it, and dissecting your thoughts and behaviors; that’s what’s helped me most"

Try to think positive.

Hi, I’m trying to build a collection of social anxiety related blog links. Just letting you know I’ve added you to that list

I don't necessarily doubt myself, but I doubt my ability to keep the situation in control. My anxieties appear when I'm in a situation where I'm not in control.

Leila -- Irrational fears is a good description of it. This doubt is definitely irrational. And I have found that writing about it and picking it apart these last few weeks is helping. I'm glad to know it's a technique that's helped you as well. One of the best parts of writing so much about it is that it helps me spot it faster. When that doubt flairs up, I see it more immediately and have the time to perhaps try some small step to push through it.
